Public Meetings To Discuss County Transportation

The County of Door is hosting two meetings in January to discuss existing and potential transportation providers and services.

The meetings will be held in the Peninsula Room at the Door County Government Center, 421 Nebraska St. in Sturgeon Bay on Monday, Jan. 29, 5-6:30 pm, and Wednesday, Jan. 31, 10-11:30 am. Virtual attendance is an option, and evaluation forms will be available for feedback. Comments will be taken through Feb. 8.

The public participation meetings comply with federal and state requirements as the county prepares to update its Coordinated Public Transportation Plan. Among the topics addressed during the meetings will be current transportation providers (public, private, and non-profit) and available services; transportation needs and service gaps; and strategies to address identified gaps.

Currently, the county’s transportation department operates Door 2 Door Rides, a shared-ride taxi service that provides rides throughout most of Door County; Door County Connect, providing rides within the city; and partners for service with Door-Tran, a local non-profit organization.
