“Wisconsin farmers took advantage of a really nice warm spell last week to zip through their fall work list of combining soybeans and corn, shredding stalks, hauling manure and tilling. ‘It was a great week for shell corn harvests, tillage and manure applications,’ the Fond du Lac Reporter said in the Wisconsin Crop Progress & Condition Report for the week ending Nov. 8. During the week, farmers had just shy of five days suitable for fieldwork. They put them to good use, ending with 76 percent of this year’s corn crop off by Nov. 8, 19 days ahead of last year and three days ahead of the five-year average.” ~ Wisconsin State Farmer
