“The recent statistical trends continued in the milk production report for September, which was issued by the National Agricultural Statistics Service last week. Wisconsin added to its run of setting monthly milk production records. Its September total of 2.362 billion pounds was an increase of 72 million pounds or 3.1 percent from September 2014. The state’s increase was due to a combination of more cows and higher average milk per cow. Compared to a year ago, cow numbers were up by 8,000 in September to 1.28 million and average milk per cow was up by 45 pounds to a record high of 1,845 pounds for the month.” ~ Wisconsin State Farmer
