Pumpkin Patch Festival: A Food Preview

Egg Harbor’s Pumpkin Patch Festival is a favorite event for many reasons: a variety of great kids’ activities, a schedule of lively live music and an array of delicious food and drink offerings. This week in the Palate section, we hope to get you excited about a fun-filled Pumpkin Patch weekend with a foodie preview of what you can eagerly anticipate. Here are some of the highlights we know so far.

Harbor View Park

Vendors will be selling brats, burgers, pulled-pork sandwiches, roasted sweet corn, kettle corn, caramel apples and caramel-apple sundaes. Other vendors will offer brats from Door County Custom Meats, cheese curds and hot dogs from The Dog House, and funnel cakes and deep-fried pumpkin Oreos from the Ephraim Fire Department. The Egg Harbor Fire Department will take over the Harbor View Grill for its fundraising food selection. Tap beer options will include some favorites from One Barrel and Door County Brewing, plus hard ciders from O’so Brewing.

One Barrel Brewing

The new brewery will have extra beer carts and fun activities in the beer garden, including a petting zoo and pumpkin sale. The Olbrich Oktoberfest and Copper Stag beer options will be available, and the band Unity will play Saturday, 6-10 pm.

Shipwrecked Brew Pub

At the patio tent, you’ll find brats, pulled-pork sandwiches and chili. Patrons can purchase the annual souvenir Pumpkin Patch Ale pint glasses, which this year read, “Say Boo and Scary On.” (They’re $3 each with the purchase of any beverage.) Shipwrecked is again featuring its Pumpkin Ale, this year with a medium body and slightly higher ABV. Door Peninsula Winery will also be on the patio selling hot Hallowine in logo souvenir mugs.

Mojo Rosa’s

In keeping with tradition, the restaurant will host its famous bloody mary and margarita bar outside, along with a variety of fall-themed and Oktoberfest beers on tap and in bottles.

Pink Bakery and Catering

Grab some of the popular pumpkin sugar cookies, or choose from the selection of other fall-themed goodies: autumn-leaf sugar cookies, apple pie, pumpkin-spice lattes and more.

Village Cafe

The cafe is selling pumpkin coffee cake and pumpkin pancakes through the Pumpkin Patch festivities and beyond.

Hatch Distillery

The new fall cocktail menu will debut Oct. 11 and feature a warm, spiced cider made with the newly released apple brandy.

MacReady’s Artisan Bread Company

Enjoy a special yeast-based pumpkin loaf to autumnify your sandwiches, soups and snacks.

Greens N Grains

At the outdoor tent, get some famous vegetarian/vegan chili made from scratch with veggies grown on their farm, along with veggie burgers and sausages. Indoor at the cafe, warm up with pumpkin-squash soup and tomato-basil soup.
