Put Pen to Paper

Back to school doesn’t have to be just for kids. Grab that notebook and pen and join Write On, Door County for these great learning opportunities.

On Aug. 18 – 20, from 8:30 – 11:30 am, Cynthia Kraack will be leading a workshop titled “A Writers Work: Writing Your Novel.” This workshop will focus on teaching how writers approach novel writing, creating characters and plot, the evolving publishing market and more. Kraack is the author of the Ashwood trilogy and the award-winning Minnesota Cold. The workshop is $120 and enrollment limited to 10. Call or email for location.

On Aug. 25, from 3:30 – 5 pm, Erin Hart will be leading “Memoir Writing: Finding Your Story.” Participants will explore ways to find the keys chapters in their story and practice using sensory details to bring the memoir to life. The workshop will be held at Glas Coffeehouse, 67 E. Maple St., Sturgeon Bay, is $30 and enrollment is limited to 15. At 7 pm there will be a reading from The Book of Killowen by Hart at the Miller Art Museum, 107 S 4th Ave, Sturgeon Bay.

On Sept. 1, from 3 – 7 pm, Write On and Midsummer’s Music Festival will partner together to present “Overflowing Genius” a the Alpine Resort. Classical music, readings by Door County Poet Laureate Estella Lauter, a wine pull, dinner and silent auction make this a unique not-to-be-missed event. The event costs $95 per person.
