Quella to Play Soccer at DII Saint Joseph’s

Steven Quella, a senior at Sevastopol High School, signed a National letter of intent April 7 to play soccer at Saint Joseph College in Rensselaer, Ind.

Saint Joseph College is a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference, which competes at the NCAA Division II level. The Great Lakes Valley Conference is comprised of 15 colleges in five states.

Quella, a goalkeeper, played an integral part in the success of the Gibraltar/Sevastopol boys soccer program over the past four years. The team won two conference championships, two regional championships, and advanced to the sectional final last year. The team compiled a record of 55 – 21 – 1 over the past four years as Quella posted 35 shutouts.

Quella was named all-conference all four years of his career, won two conference MVP awards, two all-area awards, and was named the 2009 team captain and MVP. His goals against average last season was 0.32.

Quella also played two years for the Wisconsin Olympic Development Program. He played with Door County United for four years and now plays with FC Green Bay in the U18 Wisconsin State Premier league.
