Quiet Scenes, Elegant Compositions

Oil painter Mark Vander Vinne will be the featured artist for July 12 – 25 at Cottage Row Gallery. There will be a meet-the-artist reception on July 18, 3 – 6 pm. Wine and cheese will be served.

Vander Vinne is an American tonal impressionist landscape painter best known for his quiet scenes, elegant compositions and subtle color palette. His award-winning paintings have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions as well as plein air events and private collections. He has participated several times in the Door County Plein Air Festival.

Vander Vinne was born and raised in a small town in Iowa, which he believes contributed to his love of painting the quiet serenity of the rural landscape. He studied at the American Academy of Art in Chicago. After graduation he began a career in illustration and ended up as an art director in the advertising industry. He currently resides in Porter, Indiana, where he is a prominent member in the local art community: teaching classes, workshops and hosting critiques as well as giving lectures.
