Quilts, Gifts and Artist Demos at Mr. G’s Oct. 4-7

The upcoming Art, Craft and Amish Quilt Sale will be held at Mr. G’s Hall on Highway 57, just south of Jacksonport, from 9 am to 5 pm, Oct. 4-7. More than 100 Amish-made quilts will be featured at the 21st annual sale. All of the quilting is done by hand, as is the Amish custom. Baby, double, queen and king-sized quilts will be available. The quilts will be on display on queen- and king-size display beds and will be turned on a regular basis by show employees. An explanation of each quilt is given as each is presented. Chairs will be set up in the gallery area for those wanting to view the quilts.

In addition to the quilts, the following local artists will demonstrate their work:  Chris Steinhagen (handcrafted brooms), Ken Klitzman (pen & ink on Door County beach stone and scratchboard), Sandra Peterson (pen & ink on embossed watercolor paper), Sue Jarosh (children’s books), Lana Bradley (hand-stitched fabric art), and June Grutza (glass painting).

A PBS video about the life of the Amish will run all four days. Seating will be available in the side room and where viewers can relax and enjoy the show. There will also be many gift items for sale.

An entry fee of $1 will be charged at the door. Children age 8 and under are admitted free but must be attended by an adult. All adults are welcome to sign up for a door prize drawing. The winners need not be present to win.
