Range Lights Featured in Children’s Lighthouse Series

For 31 years, Sue and Joe Jarosh successfully ran Jacksonport Craft Cottage Gifts in Jacksonport. When Sue retired as a shop owner, she had more time for writing and volunteering.

Sue became a tour guide at Eagle Bluff Lighthouse Museum in Peninsula State Park in 2016, and her subsequent first novel was Door County’s Eagle Bluff Lighthouse Mouse. With that success she decided to continue with a series on Door County lighthouses.

The second book, Baileys Harbor Range Lights Rascal, was recently released. In this fictional book, brothers Willie and Charlie Larson find an injured crow they name Rascal, who follows the boys’ activities and becomes an important part of their adventures in Baileys Harbor. This fictitious tale takes readers back to the 1880s in Baileys Harbor and is a fun adventure with a happy ending. The characters of Willie and Charlie are based on the sons of the real Larson family that lived in the Upper Range Light from 1882 to 1888.

Jarosh will sign her new book, Baileys Harbor Range Lights Rascal, at Edgewood Orchard Galleries on May 5, 10 am to 3 pm, during their opening day celebration. The book is available at Edgewood Orchard Galleries throughout the season and at other local shops throughout Door County.
