Ransomware Symposium on Nov. 26

The Door County Community Center, 916 N. 14th Ave. in Sturgeon Bay, will host a Ransomware Symposium on Nov. 26, 6-7 pm, facilitated by Dan Hubing and Officer Chad Mielke.

Ransomware is a type of computer virus created by cyber-criminals who seem to be focusing on government agencies, health-care providers, school systems and businesses. Compared to 2018, reports of it have increased by 118 percent during the first quarter of 2019, and the dollar cost from these attacks is estimated to be in the hundreds of millions.

This symposium will focus on employee training, prevention, recovery if your computer network does become infected with ransomware, and creating an action plan. There will be time for questions.Register to attend by emailing [email protected].
