Rawhide Boys Ranch Founder Visits First Baptist

John Gillespie, founder of Rawhide Boys Ranch, will give short presentations at First Baptist Church of Sister Bay June 23 at 8 am and 10:30 am, and an extended presentation at 9:15 am.

John and Jan Gillespie became best friends in second grade in the one-room Woodlawn School north of Appleton and were married for 60 years. An unexpected teenager came to visit for the day in 1965 – but stayed for almost two years – so they founded the successful Rawhide Boys Ranch, where they were foster parents to 351 teenage boys in addition to raising their own two sons. They wrote a book, Our 351 Sons, which John will share. It’s filled with humor and tales of the ranch’s challenges and blessings as it has continued to provide life transformation to thousands of teenage boys and their families.
