Readers Needed for 2020 Mother Language Day Reading

Since Write On, Door County’s first year of programming in 2014, it has hosted the International Mother Language Day poetry reading. The event celebrates the languages of the world spoken here in Door County and invites audience members to relax and appreciate the rhythm and music of poetry rather than focusing on its message.

This year’s reading will take place Feb. 22, 1-2:30 pm, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Door County in north Ephraim. It’s free and open to the public, and all ages are invited to take part as readers or audience members.Write On is seeking readers for the 2020 event. If you would like to read a poem in your native language – either by a favorite poet of your homeland or one of your own composition – contact Jerod Santek at [email protected] or 920.868.1457.
