Rec Run, Blues Disciples & More Weekend Plans

July may be coming to an end, but the fun summer events just keep coming. Try some unusual chocolates, catch a new production of an old favorite, or take part in a ukulele jamboree.

Friday, July 29

Planetarium Program for Adults and Families

Check out the night sky during the daytime. Author and amateur astronomer Paul Kinzer will bring his portable planetarium to the Baileys Harbor Town Hall. 11:30 am, 1 pm, 2:30 pm and 4 pm.

Salsa de Manzana

Add some Latin flavor to your night with this 12-piece salsa band. Break out your dance moves or simply enjoy a night of lively music. 7 pm.

Madame Sherry

Madame Sherry hasn’t been professionally produced in over 30 years, but Third Avenue Playhouse is bringing it back to life. Catch music and merriment in this iconic musical comedy from 1910. 7:30 pm.

Saturday, July 30

Rec Run

Get your racing shoes on for the Washington Island Recreation Center’s Rec Run. Go for the full 10k or participate in the 2k or 5k walk/run.

Artful Garden Walk

Travel along Door County’s Bay Shore Drive and experience the artwork of eighteen unique local artists in beautiful shore and bluff gardens. 10 am – 4 pm.

Chocolate Fest Open House and Cookout

Help wrap up this weeklong celebration of all things chocolate. Sample chocolate from a number of countries with unique ingredients such as scorpion peppers, bacon, cherries, and popcorn. 10 am – 5 pm.

The Blues Disciples

The Blues Disciples have remained true to their blues roots since their start in 1990. This Midwestern group takes inspiration from the Chicago electric blues era of the ‘50s and ‘60s. 11 am – 3 pm.

Sunday, July 31

Paella

Grab a bowl of this tasty traditional Spanish treat. Get out to the Vino! Vino! Wine Bay at Stone’s Throw Winery for some good food and good wine. 4 – 7 pm.

Jake Shimabukuro

Participate in a pre-show ukulele jam and play-along from 6 – 7 pm. Chives’ food truck will have dinners available for purchase. Then at 8 pm see ukulele star Shimabukuro perform everything from pop to jazz.

Door Shakespeare Annual Gala

Help support one of the county’s theater companies while enjoying delicious food, a silent auction, and performances by the company. The gala will take place at Woodwalk Gallery in Egg Harbor. 6 – 9 pm.
