Recycling Conundrums: Miscellaneous Plastics

Sure, soda cans, water bottles, and milk cartons can all be thrown in the co-mingled recycling can, but what about all those other plastic containers that the trash man won’t take as recycling? You don’t have to feel guilty and throw it in the trash. A little extra time once a month or so can help keep it all out of the landfill.

In spite of the growth of recycling programs, most plastics are still thrown in the garbage. Indeed, yogurt containers, plastic egg cartons, and other such plastics are not accepted in co-mingled recycling by Going Garbage or Little Hoppers. But they can be recycled, it just takes a little more effort. Going Garbage accepts them at its drop-off site on Old Stage Road in Sister Bay. So all it takes is an occasional trip to Sister Bay to keep that plastic out of the landfill.
