Red Jacket Victory

Paul Nelson of Fish Creek took first place in the Red Putter Pro Tournament held August 2 at The Red Putter Mini Golf in Ephraim.

After three rounds of golf, Paul Nelson and Eric Kraft were tied with a score of 108. Nelson won a tiebreaker to take first place, with a cash prize of $2,000, trophy and the Red Jacket. Nelson was also a Champion at the 2003 Red Putter Pro Tournament, the second year this tournament was held.

Kraft, of Milwaukee, ended up with second place, taking home $500. John Meyer, a 15-year-old from St. Louis, placed third. Mark Tesnow of Fish Creek took home the trophy for Best Single Game with a score of 32 in the second round. Tesnow was one away from the course record of 31.

A total of 69 golfers played three rounds of golf. Players had to qualify for the tournament by scoring less than par on the course.

Next year’s tournament will be held on August 1. Players can now qualify for next year’s tournament. The next event at The Red Putter will be the Frostbite Open, held on New Year’s Day. This is an open tournament with no need to qualify. For more information find The Red Putter on Facebook.
