Reinhardt’s Perfect Game Sends Vikes to Regional Final

Trevor Reinhardt picked the perfect time to be perfect.

Reinhardt tossed a perfect game Tuesday to lift Gibraltar to a 10-0, 6-inning win over Green Bay N.E.W Lutheran in a Division 4 regional semifinal.

Reinhardt struck out nine batters and 49 of the 61 pitches he threw were strikes. Reinhardt also was 2 for 3 with a pair of RBIs. The win sends the Vikings to the regional final at Crivitz, the No. 1 seed and a 5-2 winner over Sevastopol Tuesday.

“My arm was feeling great in warmups,” said Reinhardt, whose team lost twice to N.E.W in the regular season.  “As a team we were in our zone tonight. My teammates hit the ball and made all the plays which is a big help to me on the mound. I can’t forget about my catcher Andras Szakala for calling an amazing game behind the plate tonight.”

Alex Laughlin added a pair of hits and three RBIs for Gibraltar. Andras Szakala had two hits and two RBIs and Luke Steebs had three hits and an RBI.

“Having a performance like this didn’t cross my mind during my preparation,” Reinhardt said. “N.E.W is a great team with some great players that can hit the ball. My teammates were a big part of this tonight because they made plays for me tonight.  I fed off of the energy from my teammates and coaches tonight.”
