This busy holiday weekend is chock-full of activities for adventurers of all types. Delve into the county’s geographic past, dance the night away at Fishstock or discover some of the best beers on the peninsula.

Friday, July 1

Beer & Burger Trolley Tour

Ride the Door County Trolley to three different locations to sample some of the peninsula’s locally brewed craft beer. Then order a burger at Mike’s Port Pub & Grill in Jacksonport, the tour’s last stop. 1 pm.

Marybeth Mattson

Catch indie folk/pop singer and local resident Marybeth Mattson as she performs at Bearded Heart Coffee in Baileys Harbor. 1 pm.

Movie in the Park

Grab the whole family for this outdoor movie experience in Martin Park. Bring blankets, lawn chairs, and plenty of snacks! Cinderella (2015 non-animated) will be shown at dusk.

Saturday, July 2

Independence Day Cookout

Get a taste of summer with this fundraising cookout on Rock Island. Proceeds from food and merchandise sales, as well as a silent auction, will go toward park projects. 11 am – 3 pm.

Opening Reception

See the world through the lens of a fine art photographer. Suzanne Rose practices the “mindful minimalist” philosophy, producing photos that are striking in their simplicity. The reception begins at the Door County Art League Gallery in Fish Creek at 3 pm.

Lumberjacks in Love

Celebrate the 20th anniversary of this Northern Sky Theater classic. See what happens when a mail order bride disrupts the peaceful man-haven of the Haywire Lumber Camp in Northern Wisconsin. Music, laughter, and a night under a Door County sky – what could be better? 8 pm.

Sunday, July 3

FFA Alumni Dairy Breakfast

Get a farm-to-table meal like no other at this special fundraising event. Live music from Modern Day Drifters starts at 7 am. Hay rides and a petting zoo will be available, as well as other activities. All proceeds go toward agriculture programming and scholarships for FFA students. 6 – 11:30 am.

DC Renaissance Fantasy Faire

Step into a world of fairy tales, where magic and adventure are always at hand. Explore the merchant wares, listen to minstrels and eat delicious dishes in a charming Olde World atmosphere. 10 am – 4 pm.

Guided Appel’s Bluff Hike

Take a stroll through the newest addition to The Ridges Sanctuary and learn about the area’s rich geological history. See how high Lake Michigan was in ancient times, and find fossils of the creatures that lived there. 2 pm.

Karen Mal & Friends

Head over to Camp David for Karen Mal’s Fishstock performance. Her clear voice and accompanying guitar will soothe your ears and make a sweet end to your evening. 7 pm.

Monday, July 4

Wheel Throwing Demonstration

Tony Gebauer will be making pots at TR Pottery in Fish Creek. See how the artist uses his wheel to create beautiful and unique pieces of pottery. Gebauer will also be available to talk about his work. 2 – 3 pm.

Trunk Show

Check out Julie Shaw’s one-of-a-kind jewelry at Edgewood Orchard Galleries. The Florida jeweler will have a large selection of pieces available. Refreshment and hors d’ouevres will be served. 1 am – 5 pm.

Lakeside Shipwreck Tours

Experience Baileys Harbor’s maritime history like never before with this boat tour. See both the Cana Island and Birdcage Lighthouses, as well as the shipwrecks that sit below the water’s surface.
