Renowned Quartet at Olde Opera House

Door Concerts, Inc. will present the renowned Pro Arte Quartet in a concert at the Olde Opera House on Jan. 29 at 7 pm. The program will include quartets of Haydn and Dvorak, along with a special guest appearance by the Lyric Opera of Chicago’s soprano Emily Birsan. Birsan will join the Pro Arte in performing Schoenberg’s expressive second quartet. Emily Birsan, on the brink of an international career, has just completed her third year at the Ryan Opera Center of the Lyric Opera. The Pro Arte Quartet members are David Perry and Suzanne Beia, violin; Sally Chisholm, viola; and Parry Karp, cello. They have played together since 1995.
The Pro Arte Quartet’s appearance is made possible through the Arts Outreach program organized by the Arts Institute at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In spirit of the Wisconsin Idea, the Arts Outreach program shares with communities and young musicians around the state the talents of the three UW-Madison School of Music faculty ensembles-in-residence. Door Concerts, Inc. has been a long-time supporter of the program, presenting in addition to the Pro Arte Quartet, the Wingra Woodwind Quintet and the Wisconsin Brass Quintet.
Olde Opera House is located at 23 West Oak St. in Sturgeon Bay. Tickets are $15 with an optional dinner at 6 pm for $20 by advanced registration only.
