Repurposed Pieces

“Adinkra” by Dawn Patel.

Lost Moth Gallery is pleased to show new work by Dawn Patel, with an artist opening reception, July 26, from 4 – 8 pm. The reception will include wine, hors d’oeuvres and a meet and greet with Patel.

Known for her business Brilliant Stranger, previously in downtown Fish Creek, Dawn Patel is now working and focusing on her multimedia allegorical art pieces. Patel is very connected to nature and the beautiful power of the natural world and it comes through in her art. Always careful to reuse, she paints on found surfaces, framed by repurposed wood. She creates a ripple of love in the universe with her complicated images, in a very specialized style using acrylic paint and mixed media. Patel’s designs and brilliant color usage offer the viewer hidden stories to be found.

The Lost Moth Gallery’s is also committed to reusing and recycling. The main gallery was created from the garage of the old farmhouse it is attached to, with barn beams, posts and timbers from Door County barns and older buildings brought in for construction.

Work by other artists Maureen McGrath, Tony Menzer and Judy Madsen, will also be on display including paintings by Jeanne Kuhns, gallery owner. The gallery is open from 10 am to 4 pm Thursday through Sunday, from 1 to 4 pm on Wednesday, with other hours by chance or appointment. Lost Moth Gallery is located at 7975 Hwy 42, Egg Harbor.
