Retired Educator Enjoys Second Career As Artist

After 36 years as a business and law teacher and business/marketing education department chair at Oshkosh West High School, Louis Mason is enjoying a second career as an artist while enjoying his retirement in Glendale, AZ. The fruits of his retirement are on display at the Flying Pig Gallery and Greenspace.

Louis, a self-taught artist that has been painting his entire life, specializes in contemporary art that celebrates the aspects of life that most of us take for granted. His work, which is categorized as contemporary naïve, has an elementary style that will bring a smile to each viewer’s face.

“Because I’m self-taught I feel less inhibited – both technically and emotionally. I try to rely on my natural artistic talent and intuition. It allows me the freedom to make mistakes. I feel free to do things incorrectly in order to come up with something that works. It’s during this discovery phase that new ideas emerge. I find this process very satisfying.”

The Flying Pig Gallery and Greenspace is located at N6975 Hwy 42, two miles south of Algoma. The gallery is open 9 am – 6 pm daily. For more information, call 920.487.9902 or visit http://www.theflyingpig.biz.
