Rice Becomes Historical Museum’s New Archives Manager

The Door County Historical Museum and Archives has hired Steven Rice as its new archives manager.

For the past two years, he’s served as the Door County Library’s archives researcher, working with the Door County Archives collection to fulfill research requests from the public and spearhead special projects, including the Door County Speaks oral-history initiative. Rice was also recently elected to a three-year term on the Recollection Wisconsin Steering Committee.

“The Door County Historical Museum has an amazing story spanning over 80 years,” Rice said. “It’s an honor to be a part of that story, and to work with the dedicated people who make the museum possible.”

Rice grew up in Southern Door and holds bachelor of arts degrees in art history and political science from the University of Minnesota-Morris and an M.A. in the humanities from the University of Chicago. He lives in Sturgeon Bay with his wife, Corinne; a good dog; and a bad cat.
