Ridges Hosts Snowshoe Hikes

Snowshoeing is a great way to explore Door County in winter, and burn off some of those extra holiday calories. Starting on Jan. 6, The Ridges Sanctuary in Baileys Harbor will sponsor guided Snowshoe Hikes. Each Friday and Saturday in January and February, the public can join a naturalist to explore the trails and learn about winter ecology and wildlife.

Snowshoe Hikes begin at 1 pm at the Ridges’ Marshall Cabin, located at 8288 Hwy Q, Baileys Harbor. The hikes, lasting about 90 minutes, are geared toward beginning to intermediate snowshoers. Some loaner snowshoes are available. If there is insufficient snow, the hike will take place without snowshoes.

Cost is $5 for those with their own snowshoes or $10 for those using Ridges’ snowshoes. Children under 18 are free.
