Ridges Offers Butterfly Tagging Program

The Ridges Sanctuary is sponsoring a program on Monarch butterfly tagging on Friday, August 28 and Saturday, August 29. The program is scheduled from 10 – 11:30 am both days. The program will be held at the Ridges’ Marshall Cabin, which is located on 8288 Highway Q in Baileys Harbor.

Participants will learn many details about this fascinating butterfly through this hands-on program. The program will look at the different stages in the monarch’s life cycle, and participants will learn how to raise them from egg to adult. The butterfly’s amazing migration from Wisconsin to their wintering areas in Mexico will also be discussed. The program will finish with the capturing and tagging of many butterflies in order to track them on their migration routes.

Cost for the program is $5 for adults, with no charge for children under the age of 18. Advance registration is requested, and can be made by calling 920.839.2802.
