Ridges Programs

What’s better than a ramble through the early fall beauty of the Ridges Sanctuary? Join the Ridges on Sept. 27 at 9 am for a 2.3-mile walk on their scenic trails. Naturalists and interpretive stations along the route will add to the enjoyment, and a special appearance by the Bag Monster will add to the fun. After the walk, meet back at the cabins for refreshments and a program by the Raptor Education Group featuring birds of prey including owls, a falcon, a hawk and more.

Entry fees for the ramble are $25 for adults and $10 for children under 18. Adult entry fee includes a high quality, reusable shopping bag made by ChicoBag and featuring The Ridges logo. Kids receive a Ridges patch. Register before Sept. 10 and receive a 20 percent discount on your entry fee.

On Sept. 12 at 6 pm, spend quality time with the family at the Family Overnight at The Ridges. Moms and dads with kids ages 6 – 10 can eat, sleep, hike and enjoy an evening campfire on the grounds of The Ridges nature preserve in Baileys Harbor. Families will participate in hikes, campfires, and more. Bring your own tent and camping supplies. Marshmallows, breakfast and good times provided. Space is limited and advance registration is required. Program fees are $30 per family for Ridges members and $40 per family for the general public.

On Sept. 13 at 1 pm, ornithologist Lydia Doerr will present “The Bird is the Word: The Winding Path to Becoming an Ornithologist.” After the program, participants will hike the newly opened Family Discovery Trail to see a demonstration of the tools and tricks of the trade. Space is limited and advance registration is required. Program fees are $10 for Ridges members and $13 for the general public.
