The Ridges Sanctuary in Baileys Harbor, Wisconsin’s oldest nonprofit nature preserve, honored two of its long-time members as Volunteers of the Year Sunday, Aug. 17, at its annual Volunteer Celebration, held at the Baileys Harbor Town Hall.
Bob Brogan of Ellison Bay and Don Juers of Baileys Harbor, both of whom have given countless hours and much hard work to advance the Ridges mission, received large framed photographs of Door County scenes as a token of the organization’s deep gratitude and regard. The paintings are the work of Chicago-area art photographer Nita Herreman.
Volunteers are the heart of the Ridges organization. In 2007, they donated a total of 9,000 hours, valued at $175,000 and adding up to the equivalent of four full-time staff persons. The Ridges Sanctuary congratulates Bob Brogan and Don Juers on this well-deserved recognition and thanks them for their invaluable service.
