After tasting the Italian Dolcetto from Alba last week, we travel to Napa Valley in California to taste the (mistakenly) counterpart varietal of Charbono from the vineyards of Robert Foley.
Robert Foley Charbono 2008 Napa Valley
Appearance: dark purple-red hues
Aroma: ripe plum and earthy aromas with a touch of blackberry
Flavors: dense and dark blackberry and black pepper flavors with a touch of mineral
Finishing Notes: complex and rich with dark fruit and berry flavors to the end, long finish with plenty of earthiness
Perfect Pairing: This Charbono would pair nicely with a fall barbeque of pork ribs in a spicy southwest sauce with a roasted root vegetable blend of carrots, parsnips and rutabaga.
