Rock Island Fundraiser Picnic June 30

The Friends of Rock Island State Park will host their annual fundraiser picnic on June 30 at Rock Island State Park. Festivities will begin at 11 am near the Boathouse. A picnic lunch will be available for purchase at the food tent, and park merchandise will be on sale on the Boathouse deck. A Silent Auction to help raise money for park maintenance projects and for the Pottawatomie Lighthouse Museum will take place all day in Thordarson’s Viking Hall inside the boathouse.

The group is also seeking a logo for use on its website, letterhead, publicity and merchandise. FORI is calling for designs to be considered at the annual meeting of the board of the Friends of Rock Island later this summer.

The deadline to submit either digital or graphic logo designs is June 1. The art must depict something about the uniqueness and beauty of Rock Island State Park. Art format should be no larger than 8.5” by 11.” Black and white or color art will be considered.

The winner will receive a FORI fleece vest and be formally recognized at a future FORI event. Besides the prize, the chosen logo artwork will appear on the Internet, on print materials and on FORI merchandise sold at Rock Island State Park or elsewhere.
