Rock ‘n Bowl Night at PenArt

Adults 21 and older are invited to celebrate Peninsula School of Art’s fifth annual Rock ‘n Bowl Night on Nov. 16, 6 – 9 pm. The free and festive event at the school, located at 3900 County Road F, Fish Creek, provides the first opportunity to create bowls for the school’s 2017 SOUP! benefit, scheduled for Feb. 4, 11 am – 3 pm. Proceeds from SOUP! benefit Habitat for Humanity of Sturgeon Bay and PenArt’s free children’s outreach programs.

Those who create bowls at Rock ‘n Bowl may enjoy a complimentary meal donated by Rocket DSD and the Fireside Restaurant, as well as beer donated by Door County Brewing Company and Sister Bay Bowl. Music further sets the stage for a fun evening of bowl making. Although Rock ‘n Bowl is free of charge, a suggested $5 donation per person is appreciated.

As in years past, the school will provide instruction and all the materials to make and decorate bowls. Other bowl making times at PenArt will be Nov. 19 and Dec. 17, 9 am to noon.

In its 11th year, SOUP! is a community-wide effort, with more than 450 school children and about 100 adults creating and decorating ceramic bowls. The community-made bowls are $15 each. Additional ceramic dining pieces created by members of the Door County Potters’ Guild will be available for purchase in a range of prices.

Continuing with the spirit of giving, PenArt will collect items for the United States Marines’ Toys for Tots program. A collection bin will be placed at the entrance to the School’s Guenzel Gallery until Dec. 17. For more information visit peninsulaschoolofart.org.
