Roger Kuhns and ‘Words on Water’ at DCA

Door Community Auditorium (DCA) is hosting Winter Water Fest through Feb. 2, a weekend of activities inspired by this year’s Celebrate Water Door County initiative.

Roger Kuhns will deliver this week’s Door County Talks presentation on Feb. 2, 10 am, in DCA’s Fireside Lobby. He will discuss water, the risks it faces and ways to protect it, exploring these questions through the lens of both science and policy. The connectivity of water and people, Kuhns argues, strengthens our communities as we move toward a sustainable society.

Kuhns is a writer, filmmaker, performer, geologist and founder of SustainAudit, a Connecticut-based sustainable-practices application company. His presentation will include a post-talk Q&A session. Coffee and bakery from Kick Ash Coffee will be available for purchase. Door County Talks events are free to the public, but freewill donations are encouraged.

Local and regional poets with join with eclectic chamber group Nine Worlds Ensemble to present Words on Water in the DCA Fireside Lobby Feb. 2, 7 pm. The musicians will pair with poets to create a lively coffeehouse atmosphere and a powerful evening of entertainment centered around water. It is a collaboration with Write On, Door County.

Nine Worlds Ensemble’s music will weave in and out of the poetry readings.
The evening’s poets include Ralph Murre, Nancy Rafal, Ethel Davis, Rolf Olson, Francha Barnard, Kathryn Gahl, Marybeth Mattson, Sara Sarna, Sharon Auberle, Lisa Vihos, Albert DeGenova, Jim Maronek, Ann Heyse and Donna Johnson.
