Rogue Theater Announces Murder Mystery Writing Contest

Since its inception, Rogue Theater has always opened its new season with a murder mystery. These productions are usually done as dinner theater during the winter months at many local restaurants and venues around the county and northeast Wisconsin. They also have a weekend run at their theater.

Rogue Theater now encourages all its patrons to practice their writing skills and put their stories in front of the eyes of as many people as possible. Rogue Theater is offering a contest to community writers. This is an opportunity to get a murder mystery produced and brought to the stage. The rules to the contest are easy:

  1. Write an original piece, no longer than one hour and a half, preferably an hour.
  2. Suggest musical scores for the production (Rogue will pay the royalties).
  3. Make sure there are clues hidden in the script that will help the audience guess “who done it,” but don’t be too obvious.
  4. Have a good bit of comedy in the script.

The winner will be awarded a $100 cash prize and will be given five free tickets to the show played at the theater. This is a fabulous opportunity for aspiring writers to get their work seen.

Work must be submitted by Feb. 28, 2018. Scripts may be emailed to [email protected] or mailed to Rogue Theater at PO Box 782 Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235. All entries will be considered. For more information call 920.818.0816.
