Rogue Theater’s Murder by the Book

Rogue Theater’s latest production is Murder by the Book by Craig Sodaro.  In the show, The Raven Society is holding its annual meeting to select the best mystery book of the year.  The membership in this club is secret, even amongst the members.  Each member attends the three-day meeting, cut off from the rest of the world at the Dickens House, disguised as a famous author.  This year, William Shakespeare is being introduced to the club.  Spouting poetry, Will instantly captures the hearts of Mary Shelley, Charlotte Bronte and Louisa Mae Alcott.  But romance is interrupted when Poe reads a nasty bit of correspondence announcing that each member of the society will die.  Only mystery maven Agatha Christie takes the message seriously, but, alas, it’s too late.  Emily Dickinson is the first to die, quickly followed by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.  Terror stalks the meeting as even the indomitable Mark Twain disappears.

This fascinating script is filled with famous literary references, poetic twists and turns, and a shocking conclusion. Murder by the Book will be performed as a staged reading on Feb. 13 at 7 pm at the Gibraltar Town Hall in Fish Creek, Feb. 15 at 2 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Ephraim, and Feb. 20 at 7 pm at Crossroads at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay. $5 donation appreciated.
