Roots Music from Dead Pigeons at Beer Fest

The Door County Beer Festival is bringing two great roots bands to the stage in Baileys Harbor on June 20.

The Dead Pigeons ride the gravelly tones of lead singer Drew Peterson and a group of dedicated musicians who put on a show that can be part barn dance and part bar brawl.

The Wausau City Pages writes that “this Minnesota group produces a fun, original brand of the genre. The mood and tempo change song to song, so their whole set won’t sound like one long fiddle solo.”

Joining them at the festival is the Chicago duo of Ohlrich and Vanier. Comprised of fiddle player Andy Ohlrich and vocalist/ guitarist Mike Vanier, two members of the jamgrass quintet The Leadfoot Band. The classically trained musicians meld bluegrass, jazz, folk and southern blues.

The Door County Beer Festival takes place June 20 at the Baileys Harbor Town Hall Park. The festival is open from 12 – 4 pm and also features street food from local chefs and more than 150 beers available for tasting. Buy tickets at doorcountybeerfestival.com.
