Rosenau and Mueller in Concert Feb. 15 at SWY231

Painted Recordings and UtzingerMusicStudio will present Chris Rosenau and Jon Mueller in concert Feb. 15 at SWY231, a new creative space and concert venue at 231 N. 3rd Ave. in Sturgeon Bay. The doors will open at 7:30 pm; the concert will start at 8 pm.

Rosenau and Mueller became friends in the early 1990s. By the end of that decade, they had co-founded the post-rock bands Pele and Collections of Colonies of Bees, both of which released numerous records and toured the U.S. and Japan. They later joined band mates from those groups and vocalist Justin Vernon of Bon Iver to form Volcano Choir, whose 2013 record Repave debuted at number 40 on the Billboard charts.

Rosenau’s signature guitar style seamlessly combines elements of traditional finger style and Americana with modern looping and other technology. Mueller’s freeform approach to the drum kit combines unhinged jazz and direct rock sensibilities.
