At a March 19 luncheon, the recipients of the Rotary “Ethics in Business” awards were announced. The 14 nominees were grouped into three categories: Individuals, Not-for-Profit and For Profit. All nominees received certificates, with a crystal award presented to one nominee in each category. Individual nominees: Roger Anderson, Father Anthony Birdsall, Bill Chaudoir, Reverend Bruce Foster, and Chris Hecht, with the award presented to Roger Anderson. Not-for-Profit nominees: Bargains Unlimited, Northern Door Children’s Center and United Way of Door County, with the award presented to United Way of Door County. For Profit nominees: Jason Feldman Landscapes, Lautenbach’s Orchard Country Winery and Market, Main Street Market, Ross Estate Planning, Van’s Lumber & Custom Builders, and the White Gull Inn, with the award presented to Main Street Market. The three Rotary Clubs in Door County, together with the Business Department of Northwest Wisconsin Technical College, nominated and interviewed the businesses and individuals who daily exemplify outstanding ethical behavior in both their business and community. The standard was the Rotary 4-Way Test: truth, fairness, good will and mutual benefit.
