Rotary Club Awards Scholarships

The Rotary Club of Sturgeon Bay has awarded $21,700 in scholarships to 2020 graduates of Door County high schools. In total, 17 students were recognized through three types of scholarships.

The Rotary Rising to the Challenge Award is presented to an outstanding student who has faced significant challenges and has risen above adversity in her or his personal or family life. It was awarded to Amelia Scheer from Sturgeon Bay High School.

The Rotary Service above Self Award is presented to outstanding students seeking a bachelor’s degree who have demonstrated significant contributions to their community by serving others. The 2020 recipients are Kayla Scharrig and Jack Weitman from Gibraltar High School; Carissa Bartels, Amanda Puccini and Chloe Staudenmaier from Southern Door High School; Georgia Feldman, Fletcher Hubbard, Kenzie Blau and Nalani Bicoy from Sturgeon Bay High School; and Rylee Lux from Washington Island High School.

The Robert Muckian Technical Education Award was established through the estate of longtime Rotarian Robert Muckian, who was an advocate for helping students reach their goals through training in a technical field. The 2020 recipients are Dominic Krauel from Gibraltar High School; Abigail Neubauer and Benjamin Slezewski from Southern Door High School; Mason Propsom from Sturgeon Bay High School; and Brooke Kruger and Jacqueline Sowl from NWTC.
