Rotary Club Holds 25th Annual Shipyard Tours May 5

On May 5, the Rotary Club of Sturgeon Bay presents the 25th Annual Sturgeon Bay Shipyard Tours. For one day each year, Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding and CenterPointe Yacht Services open their doors to the public for tours of the shipbuilding industry.

Busses shuttle guests between the three primary locations:  Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding, CenterPointe Yacht Services and the Door County Maritime Museum (DCMM). The shipbuilding tours take about an hour, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Free boat tours are available behind the DCMM on the westside working waterfront. Check out the 140-foot US Coast Guard Cutter Mobile Bay, the emergency rescue boat from the Canal Station, and the Sturgeon Bay police boat. The Fred A. Busse (Chicago Fireboat) will be open free of charge to tour from 9 am until 2 pm. At 2:30 pm the Fred A. Busse will take paying guests on a 90-minute cruise. Tickets can be purchased at any of the three primary locations or ahead of time at DCMM.

Show your shipyard tour ticket at DCMM on Saturday or Sunday and receive half-price admission to the museum and tours of the tug John Purves.

Tickets are $15/adults, $6/students, ages 11-17, and free for kids ages 10 and younger. For more information and a detailed schedule of events visit sturgeonbayrotaryclub.org.
