Presented by the University of Minnesota Duluth Library, Lake Superior Writers, and Friends of Duluth Public Library, the Northeastern Minnesota Book Awards (NEMBA) were announced May 19. Five authors were selected as winners and two authors were selected as honorable mentions, including Door County resident Rudy Senarighi.
Senarighi graduated with a Master of Arts in educational psychology at University of Minnesota Duluth. He was presented with an honorable mention for the memoir/creative nonfiction category with his book Tales From the Creel. Senarighi received a glass plaque as well as 150 NEMBA book seals.
The self-published book is a series of vignettes illustrating lessons learned while being immersed in nature. One of the vignettes, “The Bottle,” received 3rd place in the nonfiction category in the Peninsula Pulse’s 2010 Hal Grutzmacher’s Writers’ Expose.
Tales From the Creel is available at Book World, Bay Shore Outfitters and Dancing Bear in Sturgeon Bay and Bay Shore Outdoor Store in Sister Bay. The book is also available at select Barnes and Noble and Borders, and on their websites.
