Run the Door Circuit Standings Go Gender-Free

Run the Door, the scenic series of local races overseen by the Door County Silent Sports Alliance (DCSSA), begins its third season April 30 at the YMCA Blossom Run in Egg Harbor at Dockside Park.

New this year, the season point standings will not be gender-specific.

“That’s right,” scorekeeper Bob Richards of the DCSSA said. “Men, women, boys and girls will be listed together, not separately. With more women than men running these days, women with a lot of points were being left out of the season-end awards.”

In participation-driven Run the Door, there are two major divisions, Overall and Out of County. At the end of the season, the top 25 Overall and top five Out of County runners – regardless of gender – will receive distinctive awards from Yellow Wall Pottery in Sturgeon Bay.

Registered Run the Door runners score 10 points each time they participate in a race and additional points by placing first, second or third in their age group. “Just show up and you’re on the scoreboard,” Richards said.

Races in the series are:

April 30 – Blossom Run,
