What’s the best way to see Door County in fall? If you’re a runner, the answer is definitely taking part in the Fall 50 run from the tip of the peninsula to Sturgeon Bay.

The 50-mile run will draw more than 400 teams and 100 solo runners to Gills Rock on Oct. 26. They’ll cross the starting line overlooking Hedgehog Harbor, then pound the pavement through fall colors along the bayshore, through villages and past the old stone quarry before arriving at the finish line and a massive party at Sturgeon Bay’s Sunset Park. 

You’re too late to run – registration for the Fall 50 opens April 1 and fills the same day – but you can still cheer on the runners on Saturday. The first participants will start at 6:30 am, and the last finishers will arrive in Sturgeon Bay at 6:30 pm. 

Half Marathon Fees Increase Nov. 1

Registration for Door County’s favorite race is open now, and fees will increase Nov. 1. Those who register in October save $20 on day-of race fees and lock in their spot in case the race fills. Nearly 400 people are already signed up for the event to be held Saturday, May 2, 2020, in Peninsula State Park. 

Half marathon runners get a long-sleeved race shirt and finisher’s medal, and participants in the Nicolet Bay 5K receive a short-sleeved shirt. All runners enjoy a USATF-certified, closed-road course and free Tapuat kombucha and One Barrel Brewing Company beer at the finish. Register to join the fun at DoorCountyHalfMarathon.com. 

One Barrel Run Coming Thanksgiving Weekend

The first One Barrel 2.62 Fun Run is coming to Egg Harbor on Nov. 30. The run will take participants through the backroads of Egg Harbor before finishing at the One Barrel Brewing Company’s taproom in time for Saturday college football and Holly Days festivities and shopping throughout Egg Harbor.

Registration is $26.20 through Oct. 31. All runners will receive an awesome lightweight race hoodie, a One Barrel Brewing Company glass and a free beer at the finish line. Kids will get hot chocolate at the finish. Sign up at onebarrelrun.com.
