Running Green for Crossroads

On June 25, Friends of Crossroads at Big Creek will be hosting the second annual, Running Green for Crossroads, 2k, 5k & 10k Trail Run/Walk.

Running Green for Crossroads was born from the desire to touch citizens of all generations, fostering their appreciation for the outdoors, open spaces, and the natural conditions within our area. This run was created to increase awareness of the sustainability of our resources and of our local economy.

Organizers of the event will strive “to increase awareness of ‘green’ living in our community” through the following ecological measures:

• Recycled or sustainable cotton shirts

• Post event refreshments are locally grown or produced within 30 miles

• Paper goods are biodegradable

• Food waste is composted

• Reusable Water bottle usage in place of paper waste

• Awards are made locally by artists and businesses

• Courses are marked with reusable flags/banners that are removed after the event

• Event promotes a silent sport for all ages with minimal footprint

• Increase awareness of ‘green’ living in our community through education

• Proceeds from the event support a local environmental preserve related to education, recreation and history

Friends of Crossroads at Big Creek’ is a volunteer organization which promotes and assists with programs through gifts of time, talent and financial resources for the benefit of Crossroads at Big Creek Inc.
