Rupert Wates Concert at Lost Moth Gallery

Rupert Wates will be performing a solo concert on Mother’s Day, May 12, 7 pm, at Jeanne Kuhns’ Lost Moth Gallery.

London-born Wates studied at Oxford University and has been a full-time songwriter since the late 1990s, starting out writing for all kinds of artists, all styles and all genres at Eaton Music. In 2001, he moved to Paris, formed his own quartet and performed live regularly.

In 2006, Wates came to the U.S. and is now based in New York.

He’s earned more than 40 songwriting and performance awards for his eclectic mix of acoustic and melodic art/folk, with flavors of jazz, vaudeville and cabaret. He’s released nine solo CDs, and his music is played all over the world. A masterful songwriter and electrifying performer, Wates plays more than 125 shows a year across the country. Folk and Music Exchange calls him “a prime figure in American music.”
