Russell Howard Returns to County for Fishstock

Charlotte, North Carolina-based singer/songwriter Russell Howard has a long and special history in Door County. Having spent nearly every August of his early life on the peninsula, Howard will return Aug. 9 to perform at the Fishstock Music Series at 7 pm.

First arriving in Door County at a mere five months of age, Howard’s summers of bike riding and fish boils were a benefit of living a supremely musical childhood. His parents, both classical musicians in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, have spent 40 summers performing with the Peninsula Music Festival orchestra. Despite an increasingly busy touring and recording schedule, Howard continues to make the pilgrimage to Door County as often as possible.

Howard’s Fishstock debut comes just in time for his loyal Door County fans and supporters to preview songs from his upcoming debut full-length record.

After appearances with The Lumineers, Howie Day and a lengthy stint with ‘90s rockers Sister Hazel, Howard is no stranger to the spotlight. As a songwriter, Howard thrives by creating music in the fertile ground between out-and-out pop and introspective folk, capitalizing on the bombast and subtlety of each respective genre. In 2013, Howard partnered with indie label Rock Ridge Music to release an expanded version of the project titled City Heart +. New songs from his current project are scheduled for release this fall, with the LP following in 2016.

Fishstock takes place at 3127 County F in Fish Creek. Tickets are $15 at the door. For more information call 920.839.2981.
