Have you ever wanted to try your hand at spiritual writing? Whether for personal journaling, a children’s book, liturgy, prayer, or hymn lyrics, the Sacred Writing Wordshop is ideal for you. The atmosphere will be fun, inspiring, and nonjudgmental, and it is open to everyone from amateurs to seasoned writers of any denomination or belief.
Retired Moravian Bishop Kay Ward will lead the event on Sept. 13, from 9 am to noon at Sister Bay Moravian Church, 10924 Old Stage Road at Hill. The free wordshop will draw from Bishop Ward’s own experiences in effective writing, as well as hands-on learning. Discussion will include how we use words to speak of God and words to speak of ourselves; words for worship in prayer, liturgy, and hymnody; how words work together; and the Moravian practice of “lebenslauf.”
Bishop Ward explains, “We will be writing, talking, reflecting and sharing. This is about the process of writing and how that writing can enrich our lives of faith and our lives in general. Let’s spend Saturday morning together to laugh, learn, and enjoy each other!”
Anyone interested can call the church at 920.854.4080 and leave your name and number. No obligation, but a general headcount is needed for setup and refreshments following the wordshop.
