‘Salon of High School Art’ Recipients Announced

The Miller Art Museum (millerartmuseum.org) announced and honored the award recipients of its 45th annual Salon of Door County High School Art exhibit during a reception at the gallery. The exhibition features original work by students in grades nine through 12 who attend one of the peninsula’s five high schools or are homeschooled.

Participation certificates were presented to all student artists by their respective art teachers, and museum Executive Director Elizabeth Meissner-Gigstead announced the award recipients. Awards of Excellence – $100 cash prizes – went to Claire Tellstrom of Sturgeon Bay, Zachary Puissant of Sevastopol, Cassidy Stark of Gibraltar, Haley Dawson of Southern Door and Tara DeJardin of Washington Island. Honorable Mention awards of $50 each went to Katie Frank of Sturgeon Bay, Mackenzie Ellefson of Sevastopol, Lucas Smith of Gibraltar, Amber Brickner of Southern Door, Rylee Lux of Washington Island and Frederike Witt, who is homeschooled.

The 45th annual Salon of Door County High School Art will be on display in the main gallery of the museum, 107 S. 4th Ave. in Sturgeon Bay, through May 25. Admission is free.
