Salvation Army Needs Bell Ringers for Holiday Season

The Salvation Army is seeking bell ringers for the holiday season. Volunteers come from the community as individuals, couples, families and also from churches, schools, and civic organizations. Last year more than $41,000 was raised to help 615 individuals and families in Door County.

The Salvation Army in Door County cooperates and coordinates with other social service providers in Door County as to not duplicate services. One of the main areas The Salvation Army in involved with in Door County is in sheltering services, which includes rent and utility assistance to help people to stay in their homes or apartments. The goal is to prevent homelessness.

For the dates Nov. 20 – Dec. 24, two-hour shifts between 9 am and 9 pm, contact Nancy Kexel-Calabresa (920.883.7886) for the following locations: Sturgeon Bay – Wal-Mart, Econo Foods, Pick ‘N Save, Walgreen’s; Egg Harbor – Main Street Market.

For the dates Nov. 27 – Dec. 24, three-hour shifts between 10 am and 4 pm, contact Russ Smith (920.854.9471): Sister Bay – Shopko, Al Johnson’s Restaurant and Piggly Wiggly; Fish Creek – Nelson True Value Shopping Center; Ellison Bay – The Pioneer Store, Viking Restaurant.

To directly make a tax-deductible contribution to the kettle campaign, checks can be made out to The Salvation Army and sent to Tom Mulinix, 509 W Walnut Drive, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235.
