Santa Kicks Off DCMM’s Merry-Time Festival of Trees

We all know Santa is quick. He’s able to make it to every home in the world all in one night, so it’s no wonder he can be in so many places in Door County this month.

His stops will include the Door County Maritime Museum (DCMM) to kick off its 10th Merry-Time Festival of Trees on Nov. 13. Santa will arrive at 10 am – with a little help from the U.S. Coast Guard – and take photos with visitors, 10:30 am – 2 pm.

Extraordinarily decorated trees, wreaths and decorative displays will turn the museum into a winter wonderland during the festival, Nov. 13 – Jan. 2. Many include gifts, and all are donated to the museum by community businesses and individuals. Each paid admission to the museum generates one free raffle ticket for a chance to win one of the many festive pieces, and visitors can purchase additional tickets for more chances to win.

Each child 17 and younger who’s accompanied by an adult will receive free admission to this event and to the DCMM every Sunday during the festival: Nov. 14, 21 and 28; Dec. 5, 12, 19 and 26; and Jan. 2.

The festival will culminate with the annual Jingle Mixer Gala on Dec. 14. Wear your holiday best, and enjoy live music, auctions, catered hors d’oeuvres and an open bar while experiencing the museum at night. Tickets for the Jingle Mixer Gala are limited and will go on sale Nov. 15. Museum guests may bid on auction packages online starting Nov. 29.

Interested in creating, decorating and donating a tree, wreath or decorative display to be a part of the Merry-Time Festival of Trees? Trees and decorations are displayed with the donor or sponsor’s name and logo for the full six weeks of the festival. All proceeds support the DCMM’s annual operating fund. To participate, email Paige Funkhouser at [email protected], or call the museum at 920.743.5958.
