SBSI Announces Matching Grant from Anonymous Supporter

The Sturgeon Bay Skatepark Initiative (SBSI) announced receiving a matching grant of $50,000 from an anonymous local supporter. The donor has agreed to contribute $50,000 to the Skatepark Initiative if SBSI is able to raise a matching $50,000 from the community.

The total cost of building the park is $405,000. SBSI has raised more than $250,000 to date. Successful completion of the $50,000 challenge will put the organization 85 percent of the way to meeting its goal. The group hopes to break ground for the skatepark in spring of next year.

“This is a great time for anyone who supports youth activities in our community to make a contribution,” says Matt Dixner Young, co-chair of the Sturgeon Bay Skatepark Initiative. “Their gift will be doubled by this matching grant. If they contribute $50, the skatepark gets $100. If they contribute $2,500, the park gets $5,000.”

SBSI is a fund of the Door County Community Foundation. Tax-deductible contributions may be sent to DCCF, P.O. Box 802, Sturgeon Bay. To make a contribution, visit sbskate.org or call 920.746.1786.
