SBSI Receives Matching Grant Opportunity

The Sturgeon Bay Skatepark Initiative (SBSI) has received a matching grant of $10,000 from an anonymous donor to provide amenities to the popular new park. According to Matt Dixner Young and Laurel Hauser, co-chairs for the Sturgeon Bay Skatepark Initiative, “We approached our fundraising for the skatepark in two phases. The first phase raised the $420,000 needed to build and open the park. We now need to raise approximately $20,000 to provide some of the amenities that will make the park safer, more enjoyable and more aesthetically pleasing for the athletes and for the community.”

Phase 2 amenities include a shade structure for the viewing platform, a kiosk to post events, rules and safety information and signage for the park. SBSI hopes to raise the $10,000 needed to match the challenge grant in time for its Grand Opening to be held June 13.

SBSI is a fund of the Door County Community Foundation. Tax-deductible contributions may be sent to DCCF, P.O. Box 802, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235. For more information or to make a contribution, call 920.746.1786.
