Schneider Recognized for “No More Tears”

William Schneider, whose work is featured at the Champeau Gallery in Sister Bay, recently won the Connecticut Pastel Society Award at the Pastels USA competition held at the Art Museum of Los Gatos in Los Gatos, California for his painting, “No More Tears.”

“This quick (1 hour) painting was made at the Palette & Chisel in Chicago,” said Schneider. “I had to paint very directly, with great concentration as there was no time for correction. At one point during the session, a look of sadness came over the model. I tried to capture that fleeting emotion.”

This is the second year in a row that Schneider’s work has won an award in this competition, sponsored by the Pastel Society of the West Coast. The exhibition runs from June 3 through July 9.
