Science Snippet: Possible Connection between Blood Type and Resistance to Brain Diseases

Grey matter of the brain contains millions of neurons that process information. It’s known that the volume of grey matter in a special part of the brain (the cerebellum) decreases with age. Based on recent studies, people with type O blood appear to lose less gray matter than individuals with other blood types and seem to be more resistant to Alzheimer’s Disease. Now research is being conducted to find out why type O individuals are less prone to such brain diseases.
